After two winters in which the Rideau Canal did not open or could barely open to skaters because of mild temperatures, why aren’t more people freaking out about the end of the traditional Ottawa winter? Why aren’t we more vocal about summertime forest fires across Canada? How can any political leader pretend that this burning issue, pun intended, isn’t going to dominate the rest of our lives?
