MALAPPURAM: Following the confirmation of mpox in a 38-year-old individual from Edavanna, the health department has compiled a contact list of 72 people in an effort to contain its spread in Malappuram.

She said that the 2B variant of the Mpox virus has a lower potential for spread. However, the 1B variant of the virus, found in Africa, has a higher potential for spread.

The minister said that everyone who came into touch with the Mpox patient has been located, reassuring everyone that there is no reason to be concerned about the disease
