Polk County, Florida, law enforcement and school administrators are working together to hold students who make threats to schools accountable for their actions.

Polk County Public Schools has seen an alarming increase in students making online threats to either bomb or shoot up a school. In the first 28 days of school there have been 24 students arrested.

Around the country, communities are being battered by a wave of school shooting threats, sparking emergency notifications, urgent group chats and heightened fears among parents that their child’s school could be the next Parkland or Sandy Hook or Uvalde — or any other town hit by mass shootings.
