The funeral service for fallen Michigan State Police motor carrier officer Daniel Kerstetter is being held Friday afternoon.

LINCOLN PARK, MI (AP)— A Michigan State Police officer will be taken off life support after his vehicle was rear-ended last week while parked along I-75 near Detroit. Daniel Kerstetter worked for the state police Motor Carrier Division, which keeps an eye on trucks and other commercial vehicles.

Kerstetter, 45, could not overcome the injuries he sustained in the Friday crash, and his family decided to donate his organs, according to the state police.
