It’s official. Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos is engaged to Chock Chapple. For weeks, it’s been clear to fans Joan’s final pick would be Chock. But it wasn’t so obvious to one person: Guy Gansert, who Joan sent home prematurely during the final episode in light of a “connection” with Chock.

How the runner-up reacted: Joan sent Guy Gansert home early, and producers milked the hell out of him crying in the rain. Onstage at the live reunion, he asked what was missing between them and got the obvious answer: It was just “timing.” [Variety]

The only person who should have been surprised was Guy, his final competitor. Wichitan Chock Chapple was clearly the front-runner from early on, and it never seemed to change, despite clever editing and Bachelorette Joan Vassos repeatedly crying with worry over winding up alone (when she was not crying with worry about moving on from her late husband).
