“Current activity is taking place in a remote area of Kilauea’s middle East Rift Zone, within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. No changes have been detected in the lower East Rift Zone, or Southwest Rift Zone,” HVO scientists said.

With eruptions that started over the weekend at Kilauea, today we learned a new third phase of the eruption -- a new fissure opened up early Tuesday morning. Officials say the new fissure is within the Napau Crater well to the east of Halemaumau.
