Unemployment claims in California on the rise; here's how much they increased last week
Initial filings for unemployment benefits in California rose last week compared with the week prior, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday. New jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs, increased to 38,181 in the week ending September 14, up from 36,707 the week before, the Labor Department said.
